Raising awareness is the first step in our fight to defend the basic human rights of all citizens of the world - including the 120 million who have been forced to flee their homes in the past year. In the coming months, we will be partnering with leading humanitarian organizations to launch (1) a social impact campaign that improves the lives of millions of refugees who no longer have a safe place to call home, (2) a mobile screening campaign that brings untold stories to communities that lack access to multimedia technology across Africa, and (3) an educational campaign that brings innovative human rights curriculum into university classrooms across the United States. Every dollar donated to THE BURNING supports these three goals.

When I first read about this story, I called my assistant and asked him to invite the filmmaker to join me for lunch. I had to know more. I learned Isabella had a long history of work uncovering human rights abuses around the world, and with this film, she brings our attention to a part of the world that is often overlooked. She has a unique style of storytelling and teaches us that even in the millions, there is still the story of one. I believe THE BURNING will succeed in humanizing the stories of ten courageous refugees, and in doing so, it will make it harder for the world to turn away from Africa's refugee crisis - the single largest refugee crisis in the world today.
